Who are we?

Lions in the Community is very much a local company which has been working closely with schools in Andover and the surrounding areas since 2008 to provide high quality coaching in physical education and school sports from pre-school right through to the start of Secondary School.

As an organisation we now teach over 50 hours of school sport and PE per week, reaching over 1000 children and are a registered and approved Hampshire County Council sports provider.

In addition to working within our local schools, we also offer a vast range of afterschool clubs including football, tag ruby, ball skills and gymnastic activities as well as holiday soccer schools and multi sports and activity weeks.

Our Philosophy

Lions in the Community’s ethos of “learning..growing..achieving..together” is about working closely with both staff and pupils to deliver a fun, exciting and challenging curriculum which inspires a love for physical activity at many different levels and a motivation to achieve one’s personal best.

All lessons are aimed at developing the whole child with the aim of being both fully active and engaging whilst developing important life skills such as self confidence, creativity, resilience and the ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.

The Lions in the Community team have a wealth of coaching experience across a broad spectrum of sporting activities including football, dance, gymnastics, multi skills and volleyball.

All staff hold an enhanced DBS, first aid and safeguarding qualifications and have a detailed knowledge of the new primary curriculum.

Every member of the team shares the company ethos that physical education and sport are vital to our children’s physical and mental well-being and that if we can encourage and nurture a love for exercise and sport in all its many guises, then they are more likely to continue to participate through their secondary education years and into adulthood and thus maintain a healthy lifestyle.
